Ryan Updates...

Somehow it is the end of October...
Where did the month go?
I spent most of the month at the Dr with Ryan.  Nothing terribly wrong.  Just having checkups with his specialists and added two new specialists to our "team".

We saw his Lung Dr, His Neurologist, his Eye Dr, his PCP (primary care) more than once, went for fittings for his new wrist braces (which he hates) and picked out glasses.

Too Many Choices MOM!  :)

The new Drs we added are a Orthopedic Dr and a Urologist.
While we were at the Ortho, we found out that both of Ryan's hips are slipping out of joint and one is almost completely out of joint.  This can cause pain and seizures for him.  We were given another script for another brace that is supposed to help.  I have yet to go get him measured for the brace because we have been so busy, but it is on the to do list.
The other new Dr, the Urologist, was SO nice!  I really liked that he listened to me about some of my concerns with Ryan.  He has been having some bladder issues for quite some time.  We have been doing in and out cathing with him for about two years.  We only cath when he has an infection or retention, so it wasn't that much.  Now, we have been told that it would be  best for Ryan to be cathed every 2 hours.  Ryan doesn't fully empty his bladder when he goes and it leaves old urine that eventually causes an infection.  The Dr wants us to cath to get that residual urine out.  Cathing Ryan isn't that bad.  He doesn't cry but he does seem like it isn't very comfortable.  We plan to go back to the Dr in January to have some more tests on his bladder to see how it is functioning.  I hope we will be able to get some answers that day that can help in his care.  I hate to think that we will have to cath him every 2 hours from here on out.  I am not sure what is going to happen but I would appreciate your prayers for this situation.  I just want to do what is best for him to keep him comfortable.

I feel like a bad Mom because the month has been so crazy and I realized yesterday that I hadn't even bought the kids costumes for Halloween.  I really don't care for halloween that much.  (don't get mad at me!!)  It is just hard for us to do halloween.  Ryan usually can't go trick-or-treating because it is too cold.  I don't buy him a costume because it is no use.  He can't eat candy and if you want to be honest, the other 2 don't need all of the candy either.   I know, I know, I am a total party pooper!  :)
I got out the tote with halloween costumes in it and thankfully Zack and Trevor picked out something they liked and both costumes fit! Yay!!

Maybe one year I will get all into it and make all of their costumes and even make a wheelchair costume for Ryan.  Don't know what I am talking about?

LOOK at these CUTE costumes....

Maybe next year...

I hope you all have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by!
