STOP!! Don't read any further if you don't want to be tempted. This cake is NOT healthy and is FULL of calories!! WAIT! please don't go!! You can run a few miles and bun this off...easy peasy! :)
I make this cake ONLY for VERY special occasions, like... A 30th Birthday.
I am not going to say who's 30th Birthday it was, ahem, but I enjoyed EVERY bite of MY $300 cake!! ;)
This cake is Chocolaty (is that a word?) and moist, and is SO delicious!!
So lets get started! You may want to jog the whole time you are making it. Ha!
Heat Oven to 350°F
First you mix the Flour and Sugar together in a Kitchen Aid Mixer (or any mixer).
On the stove top in a sauce pan, you will bring to a boil the water, butter, oil, cocoa, and the baking chocolate. *Stir constantly and do not walk away from this mixture because it will boil over very quickly.
When the mixture comes to a boil, pour over the flour and sugar mixture with the mixer on low speed.
Scrape the bottom of the bowl to insure all of the mixture is incorporated.
Now you will add the sour cream, buttermilk, 2 eggs (incorporate one at a time), vanilla, baking soda, and salt.
Now your cake batter is ready to cook!
Grease and flour a 9"x11" cake pan *this is an important step!! Your cake will stick if you do not do this and then will only be a $1 cake. ;)
Pour your batter into the cake pan and bake on 350°F for 35 to 40 minutes
(I baked mine for 40 minutes)
5 minutes before the cake is finished cooking, you will want to make the topping, because you pour the warm topping over the warm cake. Mmmm!
In a sauce pan, bring to a boil the water, butter, & corn syrup.
Remove from heat and add chocolate chips & Vanilla.
Remove the cake from the oven when done and pour the topping mixture over the hot cake.
Spread evenly over cake and let cool.
Mmmm! This cake is truly amazing and simple to make! Thanks Grandma for the recipe!
Want another piece?? That will be $300 please! ;)
